Eugene H. Heinzler, 86, of Marshall, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall, with Fr. Kevin Gormley officiating. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall with visitation following from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Graveside service with military rites will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Born Nov. 10, 1925, in Saline County, he was the son of the late Edward H. Heinzler and Mathilda Elizabeth Hagedorn Heinzler. He lived in Marshall most of his life and was a graduate of Missouri Valley College. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II serving in the medical unit at Pearl Harbor. He was a retired schoolteacher having taught at Marshall Public Schools for 28 years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 876 and served on the board of directors at
the Marshall Senior Center.
Survivors include one sister, Alberta Dierking of Marshall; three brothers, Robert W. (Bob) Heinzler and his wife, Mildred, of Santa Maria, Calif., Carl A. Heinzler and his wife, Edythe, of Yuba City, Calif., and Jim Heinzler of Marshall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Raphael, Laverne, Andrew, Frank, Joseph and Thomas Heinzler; and one sister, Mary Heinzler Cook.
