Wilma L. Springer, 90, of Marshall, formerly of Oskaloosa, Iowa, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
She will be cremated and no services will be held. Memorials may be made to Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.
Born March 11, 1921, in New Sharon, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Groves and Effie Ann Woods Groves. She was a 1939 graduate of Lacey High School in New Sharon. On June 15, 1945, in Olathe, Kan., she married George A. Springer who preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1973. She and her husband owned and operated Springer Oil Company in Oskaloosa for over 40 years. She had lived in Marshall since May 2011, moving from Oskaloosa where she lived most of her life and attended First Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, Greg Springer of Oskaloosa; one daughter, Becky Eddy of Marshall; two stepsons, Charles Springer of Cape Coral, Fla., and David Springer of Lynden, Wash.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Herbert Groves of New Sharon.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Shirley Sheldon.
