Kingsville Livestock Auction: Cattle Auction Report for 12/20/2011

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Receipts: 1140 Last Week: 2909 Year Ago: 1907

Compared to last week, steer and bull calves under 700 lbs had a much
lower undertone; heifer calves sold steady to 5.00 lower. With a
combination of a much lighter run and average feeder quality being less
attractive than normal, prices were not as well tested as last week. Demand
was moderate to good. Blizzard conditions in the western feed lots plus
rain locally limited demand. Slaughter cows traded near steady. Cows and
bulls were 30 percent of receipts. In the feeder supply, steers and bulls
were 59 percent of the run; heifers 41 percent. Near 44 percent of feeders
weighed over 600 lbs. There will be a sale next week.
