Essie Heying Meyer, 83, of Marshall, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Marshall, with Rev. Vernon Maxted officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to the Community Cancer Center or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Born Nov. 1, 1928, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Soloman Heying and Edith Milsap Heying. She was educated at Gilliam Grade School and High School and attended Missouri Valley College for two years. On June 29, 1952, in Gilliam, she married Alwood G. (Bud) Meyer who preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1985. She worked in the financial aid office for several years at Missouri Valley College. She also worked at the Saline County Court House in the collector's office and clerk's office for 20 years, retiring in 1998. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and was Saline County W.M.U. president for one year.
Survivors include one son, Ed Meyer of Marshall; one daughter, Angela Ann Monteleone of Lindenhurst, N.Y.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; three sisters; and one great-grandson.
