Marlys M. Watson, 80, of Slater, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at her home.
Cremation. No services are planned. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Feb. 3, 1931, in Oelwein, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Laurence and Florence Gates Miller. In November 1963, in Des Moines, Iowa, she married Martin Watson who survives of the home. She attended Gilliam Baptist Church. She was a retired real estate agent having worked for Sunshine Realty in Iowa for many years before moving to Slater in 2006.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Joe Bush and Buzz Bush, both of Oelwein, Iowa; three daughters, Andi Zebrod of Oelwein, Iowa, Shari Sloan of Des Moines, Iowa, and Shannon Calder of Slater; her step-mother, Charlotte Miller of Marshall; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five brothers, Robert Miller of Mission, Texas, Harold Miller of Kansas City, Tommy Miller, Luane Miller and Jay Miller, all Gilliam; and four sisters, Char Ann Young of Gilliam, Sherry Baker of Lake Ozark, Kristy Heilman of Marshall and Lana Miller of Slater.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Mark Watson; one brother, Kenny Miller; and one sister, Jean Johnson.
