Betty Bowman Vest, 75, of Marshall, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Gill Memorial Baptist Church. Born July 10, 1936, in Cape Girardeau, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Bowman and Eulaliah Eves Bowman. On Dec. 10, 1955, she married William D. (Bill) Vest who preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1996. She had lived in Marshall most of her life and retired as vice-president and loan officer for Boatmen's Bank formerly Farmers Savings Bank. After her retirement, she worked for Walmart and Acme Supply Company. She was a member of Gill Memorial Baptist Church where she served as church treasurer for 33 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Hallauer of Riverside; one son, Jerry Vest of Marshall; 14 grandchildren 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronny Bowman of Marshall; three sisters, Conchita Ballard of Topeka, Kan., Ellen Proctor of Marshall and C.J. George of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Bowman.
