Diana W. Woods, 72, of Marshall, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, in the Skilled Nursing Unit of Fitzgibbon Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at First Christian Church in Marshall with Fr. Kevin Gormley and William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery in Westboro at a later date. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church and memorials are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Born Sept. 12, 1939, in Westboro, she was the daughter of the late Delmer E. Williams and Mary Woolsey Williams Schroeder. She was a graduate of Marshall High School and the University of Kansas. She was an educator most of her life, teaching English and Literature. On July 8, 1977, she married John Woods Jr. who preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 2006. Diana lived in Marshall since 1993, and was very active in civic affairs. She was a member of the P.E.O. Chapter GM, The Monday Club, Friends of Arrow Rock, Marshall Community Chorus and was an avid reader and bridge player. She was a long time member of First Christian Church where she sang in the church choir.
She is survived by her son, William (Billy) Timmons III and his wife, Karen, of St. Charles; two grandchildren, William Timmons IV and Jade Elizabeth Timmons; two brothers, Dan Williams and his wife, Dorothy, of Sedona, Ariz., Tom Williams and his wife, Sara, of Warrensburg; along with many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Otto G. Schroeder.
