Marie Potter Smith, 86, of Marshall, formerly of Eldon, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at her home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. with services immediately following at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Interment will be in Tol Wood Cemetery near Eldon. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.rekusfh.com.
Born July 31, 1925, in Plainville, Kan., she was the daughter of the late Talbert and Martha (Parkhurst) Arnold. On Sept. 27, 1941, in Tuscumbia, she married Wayne T. Potter, who preceded her in death on June 14, 1977.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Hale of Eldon, Betty Sue Potter of Marshall and Tammy Price of Blackwater; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Ray Arnold of the State of California, Harley Arnold of the State of Oregon and Don Arnold of Independence.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Gene Potter and Larry Dale Potter; two sisters, Eva Sparks and Bernice Mullinix; and one brother, Ralph Arnold.
