Robert Leo Wiskur, 86, of Hughesville, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Boatman and the Rev. Carl Gravatt officiating. Casket bearers will be grandsons, Daniel Richardson, Neil Wiskur, Derek Wiskur, Hadley Wiskur, Clayton Wiskur, David Wiskur, Aaron Hampy, Shawn Hampy, Justin Wiskur and Ian Wiskur. Burial will be in High Point Cemetery near Hughesville, with full military honors by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home. Born Aug. 25, 1925, in Lebo, Kan., he was the son of Nicholas Edward and Anna Pearl Lafferty Wiskur. On Feb. 28, 1944, in Warrensburg, he married Wanda Arlene Farnsworth, who preceded him in death on July 20, 2005. He was a lifelong farmer. His passion in life was tending to his farm and cattle, and driving his tractor. He enjoyed quail hunting and restoring antique tractors. He was a member of Hughesville Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are five sons, Robert E. Wiskur and his wife, Debbi, of Smithton, Dwight Wiskur and his wife, Deanne, of Sedalia, Doyle Wiskur and his wife, Marla, of Gilliam, Van Wiskur and his wife, Missie, of Pleasant Hill, and Roger Wiskur and his wife, Julie, of Hughesville; three daughters, Sheryl Richardson and her husband, Ronnie, of Hughesville, Sonya Hampy of Sedalia, and son-in-law, Ken Hampy of Hughesville, and Deawn Hersini of Ithaca, N.Y.; three brothers, Dale Wiskur, Clinton Wiskur and Neal Wiskur; a sister, Dorothy Kohake; 23 grandchildren, Sheri Austin, Leah Pruitt, Jill Nieters, Daniel Richardson, Neil Wiskur, Trisha Voellinger, Derek Wiskur, Jenette Witting, Hollie Begotner, Hadley Wiskur, Clayton Wiskur, David Wiskur, Diana Wiskur, Sharla Buso, Aaron Hampy, Shawn Hampy, Justin Wiskur, Ian Wiskur, Shadow Wiskur, Mariah Middleton, Lakota Wiskur, Juliauna Wiskur and Sabetha Hersini; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Frank and Joe; three sisters, Rose Nichols, Pauline Fridley and Winnie McCracken; an infant grandson, Collin Baker Wiskur; and a great-granddaughter, Brionna Clark.
