Narron D. Garrett, 25, formerly of Saline County, died June 28, 1943, in the Pacific Ocean as the result of his military aircraft crashing.
Memorial graveside services with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 29, 2011, at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall.
Born May 24, 1918, in rural Saline County, he was the son of the late James E. and Annie Narron Garrett. He was an enlisted man in the U.S. Army during World War II and spent time in Pearl Harbor following the attack there. He was promoted to the rank of staff sergeant and was a substitute gunner when his aircraft crashed in the Pacific Ocean. His remains were never recovered.
He was survived by three sisters, Alyne Latimer, Thelma Birdeen McLallen and Inna Lola Schilf; and, Thomas Garrett and James Garrett, all who are deceased.
