Public aids law enforcement in burglary investigation | Houstonia man arrested in connection with case

Thursday, October 20, 2011

Assistance from Saline County and Pettis County residents helped local law enforcement officers make progress in the investigation of a string of burglaries in southwest Saline County and Pettis County, according to Saline County Sheriff Wally George.

Saline and Pettis County deputies, with help from Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers, arrested a Houstonia man early Thursday, Oct. 20. The man and a Houstonia woman are suspects in a recent string of burglaries of rural homes.

George said soon after local media reported his call for public information about any unusual activity in the area, his office began getting calls from Saline and Pettis county residents with information to share.

According to a Saline County Sheriff's Department report, deputies found items in a Houstonia residence they believe were taken in recent burglaries.

The report will be forwarded to Saline and Pettis county prosecuting attorneys for review, George said.
