Nellie Meyer, 84, of Sweet Springs, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at Sweet Springs Villa.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs, with Rev. Victor Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials may be made to Preferred Hospice of Lexington. Born May 19, 1927, in LaMonte, she was the daughter of the late Matt Elsea and Tessa Lewis Elsea. On April 19, 1947, she married Raymond (Dick) Meyer who survives. She had worked at International Shoe Company in Sweet Springs and Marshall for 43 years, retiring in 1988. She had been a resident of Sweet Springs and Marshall most of her life. She joined the Sweet Springs Presbyterian Church early in her life where she had served as an elder. She was a past member of Sweet Springs Saddle Club and publicity director of the Mo. State Saddle Club Association.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one brother, Jack Elsea of Marshall; one sister, Louise (Easy) Schlue of Concordia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
