William J. Alspaw Jr., 76, of Marshall, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Carroll House in Carrollton.
Graveside service with military rites will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Community Cancer Center in Marshall. Born Jan. 24, 1935, in Marshall, he was the son of the late William J. Alspaw Sr. and Lola Breshears Alspaw. He had lived in Marshall most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War and retired as chief petty officer 1st class.
Survivors include one son, Howard M. (Mitch) Alspaw and his wife, Karen, of Louisiana; three grandsons, Clinton, Clayton and Cameron Alspaw; one brother, John D. Alspaw and his wife, Sandra, of Marshall; one sister, Barbara Davenport of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Jean Alspaw and Viola Charlton.
