Norbert George Hill, 86 of Waverly, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at Waverly Baptist Church. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at the church. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lafayette County Cancer Coalition, the Lafayette County Visiting Nurses Association or the Waverly Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the care of Walker Nadler Fuller Funeral Home in Lexington.
Born July 16, 1925, in Alma, he was the son of Christ and Ida Schmidt Hill. He was an Army Veteran serving in WWII and the Korean War. During the Korean war he was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He married Norma Jean Hollis on Jan. 8, 1953, in Blackburn. He had been a lifelong farmer in the Waverly area and was a member of the United Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean, of the home; three children, Gerald Hill of Baldwyn, Miss., Connie Sue Hill of Marshall and Kevin Hill of Warrensburg; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parent; one brother, Edgar; and three sisters, Mildred Boehmer, Lolita Boehmer and Velma Cramer.
