Sullivan turns in nice round at Richmond
RICHMOND -- It's one of the state's toughest public links, but Marshall sophomore Lindsey Sullivan handled Shirkey Golf Course nicely during her first crack at it Wednesday.
Sullivan finished in the top half of a power-packed field during the Richmond Tournament, carding a 108. Among Lady Owls of recent years, only three-time all-stater Morgan Lamberson has shot appreciably lower on the course.
Junior teammate Stephanie Davidson struggled to a 142, her best hole a bogey on par-three No. 13, but Sullivan avoided the big numbers. She parred No. 4 with a three and put up five bogeys, four on the back nine, only posting one hole that was over a triple-bogey.
Chillicothe senior Elizabeth Sivill, a two-time state medalist, won the meet by three strokes with a 78. Notre Dame de Sion of Kansas City tallied 364 team points for an 18-stroke cushion over second-place St. Teresa's.
Marshall will head to Sedalia Country Club on Monday for the Smith-Cotton Classic.
