Robert Yetman, 73, of Slater, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at his home.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Relay for Life in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Feb. 4, 1938, in New Brunswick, N.J., he was the son of the late William A. and Edna Cuningham Yetman. On April 6, 1960, he married Shirley N. Kaarstad who survives of the home. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years, of service including serving in Vietnam with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He had lived in Slater since 2007 moving from Doniphan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Wayne Yetman of Slater, Robert Yetman of Fort Mead, Md., and James Yetman of Scott City; one daughter, Flo Rowe of Riscoe City; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
