Roy W. Bell, 78, of Sedalia, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Four Seasons Living Center.
Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug.22, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Betzen, C.PP.S. officiating. Pallbearers were Shawn Sartor, Michael Sartor, Raymond Bell, Frank Bell and Robert Spears. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW Post 2591 and Whiteman AFB. Prayers of the Rosary began at 6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with visitation following until 7:30 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sacred Heart Church or the Sedalia Animal Shelter in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel. Born Dec. 31, 1932, in Sedalia, he was the son of the late David G. and Carmie (Wright) Bell. On Nov. 8, 1958, in Sedalia, he married his beloved wife, Mary Helen Williams, who survives of the home. He was raised and educated in Sedalia, graduating from Smith Cotton High School in 1951. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Catherine Sartor of Marshall; a brother, Raymond Bell of Sedalia; and two grandsons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael William Bell, and a brother, Harold Bell.
