Judy VanDeren, 57, of Marshall, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs, surrounded by her family.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at Charity Bethel Cemetery in Charity. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to defray expenses in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.
Born Nov. 30, 1953, in Red Top, she was the daughter of Herman (Bud) Shively and Betty Cline Shively who survive of Marshall. Judy was raised and attended school in the Buffalo area, with the remainder of her life being spent in the Marshall area. She worked at Fitzgibbon Hospital, Marshall Habilitation Center, Marshall Senior Center and at several area restaurants where she was a cook. Judy's greatest passions were her family, crafting and crocheting. The last several years she owned her own craft shop in Marshall, until illness forced her to retire.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by five children: Weldon VanDeren of Marshall, James VanDeren-Smith and his wife, Jody, of Boone, Iowa, Jason VanDeren and his wife, Karen, of Boone, Iowa, April VanDeren of Marshall and Melissa VanDeren and her fiancÚ, Jeremy Mahaney, of Marshall; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Pat Moody and her husband, Kerwin, of Marshall, Doris Nolte and her husband, Dennis, of Blackburn, four brothers: Billy Shively and his wife, Lana, John Shively and his wife, Bev, Donald (Donnie) Shively and his wife, Debbie, Roy Shively and his wife, Phyllis, all of Marshall; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Judy will also be missed by her long time friend, Alec Long of Marshall.
