Marshall FFA awarded top national honor

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

The Marshall FFA has been recognized nationally as being one of the "most innovative, unique and outstanding in the country" by the National FFA Organization.

"We are so proud of our FFA chapter and members for this accomplishment," said Callie Dobbins, one of three Marshall FFA advisors.

The chapter was one of just two Missouri FFA chapters to be honored as a 3-Star chapter winner and Model of Innovation finalist in the National FFA Award program.

They have been invited to the 84th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., Oct. 19-22 where they will be recognized for this honor and compete to be named as one of three top Models of Innovation chapters. Centralia FFA was the only other 3-star chapter in Missouri, out of 33 entries.

"We are so proud of our FFA chapter and members for this accomplishment," said Callie Dobbins, one of three Marshall FFA advisors.

The Models of Innovation award program for FFA chapters is sponsored nationally by John Deere. It showcases innovative ideas and activities that a chapter participates in throughout the year. As a national finalist, the Marshall FFA chapter members and their Program of Activities will be featured in a National FFA publication highlighting the top FFA chapters and what they provide to their members. Each activity provides opportunities for members to excel in one of three areas: student, chapter or community development.

The National FFA Organization is a national youth organization of 523,309 student members.
