Robert W. Leimkuehler ,75 ,of rural Slater, died Friday Aug. 5, 2011, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at Salem Evangelical Church near Saline City with Rev. Tony Gallagher officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Bill Leimkuehler, Jimmy Leimkuehler, Tracy Neal, Jim Steinmetz, Daniel Thomason and Derrick Thomason serving as pallbearers. Memorials are suggested to the Salem Evangelical Church in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born April 9, 1936, in Saline County, he was the son of the late August W. and Della Feuers Leimkuehler. On April 4, 1959, in Sacramento, Calif., he married Wally Neal and she preceded him in death on Dec. 10, 2010. He was a member of Salem Evangelical Church near Saline City and served for many years on the church cemetery board. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked at Standard Havens in Glasgow until his retirement. He also farmed.
He is survivied by two sons, Jeff Leimkuehler of the home and David Leimkuehler of rural Slater; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Leimkuehler; a twin brother in infancy; a brother, Albert Leimkuehler; and a sister, Ellen Schwartz.
