Thomas E. (Tom) Mikels, 85, of Marshall, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Born July 21, 1926, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Lloyd E. Mikels and Ethel Elizabeth Brown Mikels. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He had lived in Marshall his entire life and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and ConAgra Frozen Foods. He was a race car driver and an avid racing fan.
Survivors include three children, Tommy Mikels of London, Ark., Stephen Mikels of Warrensburg and Carey Drehle and her husband, Brad, of Jefferson City; two grandchildren, Mikel and Braden Drehle; one sister, Helen Bueker of Bowling Green, Ky.; and two nephews and one niece.
