Gerald (Jerry) Stone, 84, of rural Marshall, died Friday, July 29, 2011, in Tampa, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Marshall, with Rev. Wayne Doolin officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial with military rites will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born Nov. 6, 1926, in Kansas City, he was the son of the late Opal Carver. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. On April 25, 1949, he married Marjorie Coates who preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 1989. On Dec. 27, 1990, he married Glenda Shull Meschede who survives of the home. He retired as Captain with the Kansas City, MO Police Department, had lived in Marshall since 1974, moving from Kansas City, and retired as Chief of Police in Marshall. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Triluminia Lodge No. 205 A.F. & A.M. in Marshall.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Sandra Head, Bill Stone and Gail Stephenson and her husband, Bob, all of Marshall; four stepsons, Michael Meschede of Tampa, Fla., Brad Meschede and his wife, Karen, of Blue Springs, Tim Meschede of Liberty and Mark Meschede of Tampa; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
