Clifford J. Duffey, 92, of Sweet Springs, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at The Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Dunksburg with military rites. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Show-Me Honor Flight or American Diabetes Association. Born Dec. 23, 1918, in Sweet Springs, he was the son of the late Leonard Duffey and Lillie Templeton Duffey. On Sept. 21, 1946, he married Reta Beatrice (Bea) Meador who preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 2001. He lived in the Sweet Springs area most of his life where he worked at International Shoe Factory for 14 years and then as custodian of the Sweet Springs School District for over 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater.
Survivors include one son, Donald R. Duffey of rural Sweet Springs; two daughters, Marla Jean Wiskur of rural Marshall and Karen Bredehoeft of Emma; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Rhonda Duffey Bredehoeft and Linda K. Rennison; three brothers and three sisters.
