Laura (Sissy) Self, 63, of Sweet Springs, died Friday, July 22, 2011, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Payne Cemetery in rural Johnson County. Born July 30, 1947, in Knob Noster, she was the daughter of the late Seaton T. Hall and Martha Drucella Jackson Hall. She married Dale Hursman who preceded her in death. She had lived in the Sweet Springs and Houstonia area for many years, working as a CNA at Sweet Springs Villa and as a cook at Betty's Truck Stop.
Survivors include four children, Martha Mullins and Gayla Stuerke, both of Blackburn, Jamie Harrison and David Sanders, both of Sweet Springs; two stepchildren: JoAnn Hursman and Dale Hursman Jr.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Seaton Hall of Marshall and Ben Hall of Sweet Springs; one sister, Sarah Bales of Houstonia; also numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Robert Hursman; one sister, Suzanne Garrison; and one brother, John Hall.
