Local adults, 4-H and FFA members place in livestock contest

Several area 4-H and FFA members placed at the Missouri Youth Livestock Judging and Grading Contest and Workshop, held March 12, 2011 at Trowbridge Arena on the University of Missouri campus.

Marshall FFA member Eric Underwood was 41st in scoring classes, while Kade Plattner, a Union 4-H member was 44th overall.

Malta Bend FFA members rankings were: Phillip Wattenbarger, 54; David Hostetter, 57; Danny Kiehl, 60; Tyler Jenkins, 116; Dan Kiser, 155.

Other Marshall FFA members and their placings were: Austin Thiel, 84; Evan Summers, 99, Rob Gorrell, 115.

Slater FFA members also were at the contest: Saria Liemkuehler, 106; Casey Short, 154; Travis Holt, 211.

In the adult contest, Marshall FFA advisor Randy Plattner was 6th overall, while Malta Bend FFA advisor Terry Jenkins placed 21st.

In individual contests: Marshall FFA members did well with Rob Gorrell placing first overall in Slaughter Cattle, while Eric Underwood was third in Keep/Cull.

The Marshall FFA team of Evan Summers, Austin Thiel, Rob Gorrell and Eric Underwood placed fourth overall in Slaughter Cattle.

In the Workshop Contest Results, Union 4-H member Montana Plattner placed 8th overall.
