Lucille A. Brooks, 91, of Marshall, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Born Sept. 2, 1919, in Saline County, near the Marshall Junction, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas McDonald and Virginia Sidwell McDonald. On July 17, 1938, in Marshall, she married Wilbur Brooks who preceded her in death on March 14, 1995. She had lived in Marshall most of her life and was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, W. Joe Brooks Jr. and his wife, Bonnie, of rural Marshall; Danny (Butch) Brooks of rural Marshall, Ronnie Brooks and his wife, Joyce, of Beeville, Texas, and James (Chinaman) Brooks and his companion, Judy Brown, of rural Marshall; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Nora McDonell; one daughter, Linda Darlene McMelen; and several brothers and sisters.
