Volunteers no longer needed in Grand Pass bottoms on Tuesday (Updated 3:15 p.m. Monday)

Volunteers are needed on Tuesday, July 12 in the Grand Pass bottoms to help make sandbags. An automatic sandbagging machine, provided by the Army Corps of Engineers, will be in Saline County for the third time in the past week. The machine is expected to begin at 8 a.m. and run all day.

Update:Levee officials say they have gotten enough help for Tuesday, but thank everyone who considered pitching in.

Volunteers are needed in the Grand Pass bottoms starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12 to help fill sandbags.

For the third time in the past week, they will again be using an automatic sandbagging machine, which takes at least 20 people to help with moving, tying and stacking the sandbags.

In order to get there take Highway T north at Grand Pass and head towards the bottoms. The machine is set up in a median where the highway takes a sharp turn to west.
