Three Chiefs named all-state
The Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association has selected three Santa Fe players for its Class 1 all-state baseball team.
Sophomore outfielder Andrew Curry was honored for the second time while junior shortstop Dalton Wilkinson and freshman third baseman Keaton Graf earned their first awards for the Chiefs, who posted a 16-4 record and reached the Class 1, District 15 Tournament championship game before losing to Concordia, 7-5.
Curry was chosen for the second team as a utility player after batting .500, with a .558 on-base percentage and 1.037 slugging percentage -- smashing six homers and driving in 44 runs in 20 games.
Wilkinson earned honorable mention status in the infield with a slash line of .593/.649/1.051 with four homers, 37 runs scored and 36 RBIs. Graf was an honorable mention utility pick at .458/.630/.864 with four homers and 26 RBIs.
All three also were successful pitchers for Santa Fe, throwing 106 of the team's 119 innings for a combined 16-3 record and 2.64 earned-run average with 173 strikeouts.
