Slater man hurt in 1-vehicle crash Friday

Friday, June 17, 2011

A Slater man suffered moderate injuries Friday in a one-vehicle crash on state Highway 240, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

David M. Derboven, 33, was taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred at 11:12 a.m. as Derboven was traveling eastbound two miles west of Route P.

The 2002 Ford he was driving crossed the center line, struck several traffic control signs, a utility pole and a fence before coming to rest in a creek, troopers said.

Derboven was not wearing a safety device, according to the report. The investigation continues.

Just figured out who was involved in this, knew the name was familiar but could not place my finger on it - sorry, hope you are OK neighbor!! Please do not take my earlier comment personally - it was just a general plee to EVERYONE - Please respect the curves on 240, they are not as forgiving as they seem. ---- Karen Zimmerman (if I could buy me a road straightener, believe me I would!!).

Same ole curve folks - when WILL people learn? There IS a suggested speed posted on this curve, there IS plenty of visibility on either side of it. But that is okay because farmers have nothing better to do with their day then get out and fix the fences that people seem so determined to drive through. Just glad that there have only been (mostly) minor injuries on that curve - one 16 year old did die there though so PLEASE would everybody just slow down. And by the way, there is also a no passing zone there, should the person who passed me the other morning after I pulled out of the driveway be reading this. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!
