Lucille Wightman, 89, of Norborne, died Friday, June 3, 2011, at Foxwood Springs Care Center in Raymore.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2011, at Norborne United Methodist Church. Burial was in Fairhaven Cemetery where military services will be conducted by Pence-Lovell-England American Legion Post 1773. Visitation was from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Thurman Funeral Home in Norborne. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Norborne United Methodist Church.
Born March 4, 1922, in Searsbora, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Edna (Picken) Karerer. On Dec. 30, 1956, she married Vern Wightman of Braymer, who preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 2008. She was a homemaker. She was an active member of Norborne United Methodist Church. She lived in the Kansas City area and worked for TWA for 11 years before moving to Carroll County in 1956. She was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII.
She is survived by one son, Randall Wightman and his wife, Jody, of Grain Valley; two daughters, Vinita Wightman of Belton and Ann Spurgin and her husband, Jess, of Slater; two grandchildren, Samuel Spurgin and Jason Spurgin and his wife, Vicky; two great-grandchildren, Jason Spurgin Jr. and Soraya Spurgin; and one twin sister, Lola Mendell of Kansas City.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Kamerer, and one sister, Ruth Gustafson.
