Jody Malan (left) and Jennifer Thompson (right) sift through items that residents of Saline County donated for the Joplin relief effort. Many items have already been loaded into trailers, including more than twenty-five cases of bottled water and stacks of medical equipment, including crutches, that organizers have been authorized to dispense to Joplin area hospitals and medical personnel.

"We didn't do this. The community did this," Thompson said.

The two will leave Thursday morning, May 26, for southwest Missouri.

  • I know these items were collected for Joplin. In light of the tornado touch down in Sedalia today... Perhaps these items could be sent there. Red Cross in Joplin, has stated (story in the newspaper)they are overwhelmed wtih donations and are turning trucks away... Just a thought. God Bless all that donated and that have been effected by this Crazy weather.

  • I agree. Although the destruction is massive in Joplin, we need to also remember our neighbors who are closer. A family in Slater lost everything they owned, they say there are many people in Sedalia that are in the same boat. I to have read and heard on the national news that they are turning trucks away in Joplin.
