J.C. Stevens, age 70, of Versailles, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14, at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Graveside services and interment will follow in Versailles Cemetery with Mike Stevens, Craig Stevens, Rodney Stevens, Wayne Fry, Mark Fry and Bryan Fry serving as casketbearers. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association. Born Sept. 27, 1940, in Sedalia, he was the son of the late George Calvin and Lena Inez Crane Stevens. On Feb. 4, 1972, in Eldon, he married Carolyn DeMott, who survives of the home. He was a member of Versailles Westminster Presbyterian Church. He served as a board member for three years for the Morgan County Soil and Water Conservation District. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Mike Stevens of Lebanon, Craig Stevens and his wife, Gina, of Lee's Summit, and Rodney Stevens and his wife, Edith, of Columbia; his daughters, Cindy Fry and her husband, Wayne, of Marshall, and Heather Stevens of New York, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
