Martha T. Elliott, 92, of Calhoun, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Golden Living Center-Westwood in Clinton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 14, at Calhoun United Methodist Church in Calhoun, with Pastor Margie Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Calhoun Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Born Sept. 16, 1918, in Marshall, she was the daughter of Samuel G. Case and Ollie F. (Short) Case. On Dec. 24, 1935, at United Presbyterian Church in Marshall, she married Harold Edwin Elliott, who preceded her in death July 4, 1987.
She was a homemaker. During World War II, she cleaned airplanes for TWA Airlines in Kansas City. She later worked at Hostess Cupcake Factory, also in Kansas City. She also was a waitress in the Marshall area and worked, for several years, at Stamper Foods, now Banquet Foods, in Marshall. She was a member of Calhoun United Methodist Church in Calhoun. She enjoyed oil painting and crocheting.
Survivors include 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren;
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Lowell Elliott and Carl Elliott; four sisters, Elizabeth Hayslip, Noreen Ballew, Alice Miller and Joyce A. Case; and a brother, Sam Case Jr.
