Grace W. Brayman-Schoby, 88, of Marshall, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Kathryn Bell officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Born Sept. 4, 1922, in Slater, she was the daughter of the late William Lewis Johnson and Mary Susan (Willis) Johnson. She was married to Omar L. "Rooster" Brayman who preceded her in death on June 8, 1987. On June 3, 1999, she married Howard W. Schoby of Bunceton and he preceded her in death on March 11, 2007. She had lived in Saline County most of her life and owned and operated The Johnson Nursing Home in Marshall, the first licensed nursing home in Saline County. She retired from Marshall Habilitation Center in 1983 as a supervisor and orientation instructor. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Marshall.
Survivors include one son, Roger D. Brayman and his wife, Beverly, of Marshall; one grandson, Alexander Brayman; one granddaughter, Kirby Brayman; four sisters, Dorothy Lynch and Vivian Piles of Kansas City, Kan., Velma Hein of Pilot Grove and Ruby Hazell of Marshall; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Roy "Chuck" Brayman on Feb. 7, 1969; two brothers; one sister in infancy; one half-brother; and three half-sisters.
