Gertrude (Trudy) Eckhoff, 90, of Sweet Springs, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs, with Rev. Dan Wing officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice. Born March 7, 1921, in Kansas City, she was the daughter of the late E.J. Hachenberger and Bertha J. Amman Hachenberger. Following her graduation in 1939 from Sweet Springs High School, she married Leonard Raymond Eckhoff who preceded her in death in 1983. She had lived in Sweet Springs most of her life where she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She worked for 12 years at Roxbury Press in Sweet Springs, as well as driving a school bus with her husband, but the majority of her life was spent raising her family and being a homemaker.
Survivors include her children: Jo Ann Meyer, Jeanette Koch and Patty Lemmons, all of Sweet Springs, Louise Schnakenberg and Eugene (Beanie) Eckhoff of Concordia; 19 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Eckhoff; one daughter, Linda Harms; one grandson; one great-grandson; and one great-great-grandson.
