Homer Scott, 91, of Slater, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Sweet Springs Villa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2011, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater, with Rev. David L. Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dean Hecke, Austin Scott, Justin Lopez, Michael Cole, Vernie Jackson and Rusty Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Waddel, Larry Butcher and Stan Hinnah. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
Born Aug. 24, 1919, in Salisbury, he was the son of the late William and Nona Cardwell Scott. On Sept. 19, 1943, in Slater, he married Lela M. Fizer, who preceded him in death on Sept. 3, 1994. Mr. Scott was a retired farmer, and a long-time Slater area resident.
He is survived by a son, David Scott of Warsaw; five daughters, Virginia Malan, Roberta Jackson and Janie Johnson, all of Marshall, and Norma Hammer and Linda Cole of Slater; eleven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; twelve step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
