Deputies apprehend man wanted by 2 states on felony charges

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Saline County Sheriff's deputies apprehended a man in Slater Monday, May 2, who had active felony arrest warrants from Kansas and Iowa for kidnapping and sexual assault.

Michael W. Gillum, 36, first identified himself by an alias when approached by deputies, according to the report. But deputies noted his resemblance to the man wanted in the warrants, including general features and a facial scar.

During the booking process at Saline County Jail, Gillum allegedly admitted to being the man deputies sought on the warrants.

The search for Gillum began when a U.S. marshal contacted the Saline County Sheriff's Office with information about Gillum's possible whereabouts.
