Mary F. Henley, 73, of Kearney, died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at St Luke's Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011, at Kearney Community Covenant Church, 1820 S. Jefferson St., Kearney. Burial will follow in Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, 208 S. Jefferson, Kearney. Memorial gifts may be made in Mary's honor to Kearney Community Covenant Church. Arrangements are being handled by Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home.
Born Aug. 7, 1937, in Newton, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Vivian Stelplugh Fries. She graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1955. After graduation she moved to Kansas City where she worked as a bookkeeper for a car dealership. On Nov. 12, 1960, she married Don Henley, of Marshall, who preceded her in death in 2008. Together they owned and operated Henley Motor and Equipment Co. in Kearney for over 20 years, until they retired in 1999. She was an active member of Kearney Community Covenant Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by one daughter, Gayle Sembroff and her husband, Michael, of Liberty; one grandson, Aaron of Liberty; one brother, Kenneth Fries and his wife, Nancy, of Chillicothe, a sister-in-law, Virginia Henley, of Gladstone; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don and her parents.
