Doris Jean Petty, 90, of Marshall, died Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to charity of donor's choice. Born January 18, 1921, in Chillicothe, she was the daughter of the late W.T. Knight and Viola Vinyard Knight. She first married Lowell Barker, Sheila Beck's father, and then on June 8, 1954, she married Charles Ralph Petty, who preceded her in death on March 18, 1976. She lived in Marshall most of her life and was retired from International Shoe Company. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Marshall. She liked to embroider and play the piano.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Beck of Marshall; one stepson, Charles Leon Petty of Slater; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Knight of Sunrise Beach, and Joe Knight of Sedalia; one sister, Karen Wansing Kriesel of rural Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
