Marvin E. Bargfrede, 72, of rural Sweet Springs, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs with Rev. Dan Wing officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Immanuel Lutheran Church in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Born Feb. 7, 1939, in Shackelford, he was the son of the late Henry Bargfrede and Alma M. Borgelt Bargfrede. He spent most of his life in the Sweet Springs area where he was a 1957 graduate of Sweet Springs High School. On October 18, 1958, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs, he married Anna Charles who survives of the home. He was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee. He worked in the Lee's Summit area at Western-Electric for several years, and later worked as maintenance supervisor at Sweet Springs R-VII School for 15 years. He was also a farmer most of his life as well as working with LaRue Auction Services. Marvin and Anna were avid dancers, having won dance competitions at the Missouri State Fair.

In addition to his wife, Anna, he is survived by one daughter, Wanda Diane Crank of Concordia; one son, Randall Dean Bargfrede of rural Sweet Springs; four grandsons; one brother, Harlin Bargfrede of Boaz, Ala; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Miller.
