Six seniors receive $500 scholarships from Saline County Cattlemen

The Saline County Cattlemen have announced six recipients for 2011 scholarship awards in the amount of $500 each.

The Cattlemen have been awarding scholarship money for over 25 years to county high school seniors. Funds for these scholarships are raised by cooking steak sandwiches at local promotional events.

The following area high school seniors will be receiving scholarships:

Sweet Springs High School:

Taylor Loges, daughter of Diana Ernst and Doug Loges, plans to attend the University of Missouri and major in Agricultural Business.

Matthew Vogelsmeier, son of Amy and Jay Vogelsmeier, plans to attend the University of Missouri and major in Agricultural Systems Management.

Malta Bend High School:

Kelsey Forqueran, the daughter of Doreena and Jamie Forqueran, plans to attend Central Methodist College and major in Communications.

Marshall High School:

Austin Thiel, son of Michelle Smith and Bryan Thiel, plans to attend the University of Missouri and major in Animal Science, with future plans to become a large animal veterinarian.

Lauren Hisle, daughter of Dixie and Mike Hisle, plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville and major in Agricultural Economics.

Rob Gorrell, son of Keith and Marcia Gorrell, plans to attend the University of Missouri and major in Plant Science with an emphasis in crop production.
