Reverend Frederick Joseph Barnett, 85, died Tuesday, March 19, 2011, at Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Center in Kansas City.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at the Shrine of St. Patrick in Laurie. The Vigil Liturgy and rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Accompanied by the Knights of Columbus, an all-night vigil will take place in the parish chapel. Public visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Shrine of St. Patrick in Laurie with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. by Bishop John R. Gaydos. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Laurie.
He was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Kansas City and attended high school at Ward High School and Argentine High School, both in Kansas City. He studied priesthood at St. John Minor Seminary in Kansas City, St. Louis Preparatory School in St. Louis, and Cardinal Glennon College and Kenrick Theological Seminary in St. Louis. He was named associate pastor at St. Peter Catholic Church on June 14, 1955.
