Lona Mae Richardson, 85, of Marshall, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia. Memorials may be made to Gill Memorial Baptist Church. Born Dec. 5, 1925, in Arrow Rock, she was the daughter of the late Roy H. Long and Lona P. King Long. She graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia. On June 16, 1941, she married Ira Gilpin who preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1973. In October of 1976, she married Kenneth M. Richardson who preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1991. She had lived in Marshall since 1991, moving from Kansas City, and retired from Sprint in 1990. She was a member of Gill Memorial Baptist Church in Marshall.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Gilpin, of Sedalia, and Jim Gilpin and his wife, Mary Ann, of rural Marshall; one daughter-in-law, Joan Gilpin of rural Marshall; seven grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, John Gilpin, one grandson, Terry Gilpin, three brothers and one sister.
