Oden (Jack) Curry, 86, of Waverly, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Apple Ridge Care Center in Waverly.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Victory Christian Fellowship Church in Waverly, with Jerry Curry and Tom Scopel officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Private family burial will be in Waverly Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Victory Christian Fellowship School in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Born Jan. 18, 1925, in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Oden Curry and Laura Lichtenthaler Curry. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. On May 16, 1952, he married Velma Lee Dickerson who survives of the home. He had lived in the Waverly area most of his life and was retired as superintendent for Massman Construction Company having worked for them for 33 years. He was a founding member of Victory Christian Fellowship Church and a member of American Legion Post 580 in Waverly.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Jerry Curry and Keith Curry of Waverly; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Laura Odean Hurt of Waverly, Bernice Hicks of Marshall, Wanda Bartlett of Lexington and Uretta Taylor of Miami; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Melvin, Oscar, Earnest (Pete), A.J. and Woodrow Curry, and three sisters, Georgia Russell, Norma Daleen and Leorein Daleen.
