Helen Genevieve (Griffin) Hubler, 95, of Marshall, passed away on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at Golden Oaks Retirement Home in rural Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Kathleen Schmidtke officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville, Iowa. Born Nov. 2, 1915, in Mercer, she was the daughter of the late Clell Markwood Griffin and Susie Irene (McCartney) Griffin. She was baptized in First United Methodist Church in Mercer and continued as a member and currently a member of First United Methodist Church in Marshall. She attended grade school and high school in Mercer. On July 22, 1932, she married Edward Lee Hubler, who preceded her in death on July 12, 1979. They spent the majority of their married life in Lineville and Dinsdale, Iowa before moving to Marshall in 1974.
Survivors include two sons, Richard L. Hubler and his wife, Bonnie, of Lee's Summit, and Gary D. Hubler and his wife, Jeri, of Durant, Iowa; one daughter, Mary L. Callen and her husband Richard, of Princeton; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Tipton Frances Alexander; one brother, Harold Griffin; one sister, Pauline (Alexander) Barnett; and one son, Michael Hubler.
