Janet Kay Riley, 64, of Marshall, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Vernon Maxted and William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born Feb. 20, 1947, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Jackson Sr. and Betty Jean Samuels Jackson who survives of rural Sweet Springs. On Dec. 26, 1981, she married Fred R. (Ted) Riley Jr. who survives of the home. She had worked at International Shoe Company for 16 years and then worked at ConAgra in Marshall for 20 years, retiring in 2009. She was a former member of Antioch Baptist Church and a current member of Bethany Baptist Church in Marshall. She loved her family and loved children in general. She also loved camping, fishing and crocheting. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2005.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by her children, Kevin Short and his wife, Nikki, of Ottawa, Kan., Shelly Markes and her husband, Steven, of Sweet Springs, Shane Riley and his wife, Rose, of Huntsville, and Joicy Pannell and her husband, Justin, of Marshall; 10 grandchildren, Crystal, Abigail, Joseph, John and James Markes, Chase and Ashley Riley, Kevin and Clayson Short and Savannah Pannell; five step-grandchildren, Alex and Emily Soto, Jarod Finch and Jordan and Alyssa Sorrells; one great-grandson, Aaron Thomas; her triplet sister, Janice Faye Schloman of Lee's Summit; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her triplet sister, Janette Ray Jackson, and one brother, Charles Edward (Eddie) Jackson Jr.
