Marvin E. Casner, 89,of the Sugartree community, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Mar-Saline Manor Care Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at Bittiker Funeral Home, 1201 N. Hwy. 65, in Carrollton, with Pastor Mike Dunlap and Pastor Noel Chase officiating. Burial will be at Gilead Cemetery in Norborne. Visitation will be held from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions be made to Gilead Cemetery or to Waverly Methodist Church in memory of Marvin. Born Feb. 9, 1922, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Maude Eva (Lance) Casner in the Sugartree township in Carroll County. On Feb. 14, 1959, he married Kathryn Cordelia Olson who survives of the home. He attended Dick School in Sugartree and chose farming as an occupation. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Waverly and a member of the Gilead Cemetery Board.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Marlene Erickson of Marshall; one son, Duane Casner of Carrollton; and three grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Warren, and one sister, Edna Mae.
