Burial services were held Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Houston National Cemetery, in Houston, Texas. A memorial service for friends and family near Marshall is pending for Spring 2011.
Born June 19, 1944, in Napton, he was the son of the late Alex and Effie Irving. He was a graduate of Marshall High School and attended University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg before joining the U.S. Army. After leaving the army he moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where he married Lolita Cerf. In Jan. 2007 he retired from the U.S. Forest Service (Cass Job Corp Center) in Ozark, Ark.
He is survived by one son, Ted Irving and his wife, Brandi; three sisters, Vivian Johnson and her husband, Lee, of Culver City, Calif., Adlene Williams and her husband, Mike, and Geraldine Jones and her husband, Tom, all of Kansas City, Kan.; one grandson, Malkolm Irving; one brother, John Irving and his wife, Helen, of Pittsburg, Pa.; and several neices, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Della Jackson, Fannie Banks and Alice Kynard.
