Betty M. Sims, 77, of Marshall, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Dr. Phil Soto and Rev. Vernon Maxted officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church. Born March 8, 1933, in Saline County near Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. Wallace and Florence Mayse Wallace. On Dec. 24, 1949, she married Charles E. Sims who preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1999. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Marshall where she served as church secretary, occasionally played the piano, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was also active in the Foster Grandparent Program.
Survivors include six children, Garner E. Sims and his wife, Karen, of Marshall, Yvonne Butterfield of Marshall, Becky Williams and her husband, Bobby, of Marshall, Deborah Cunningham and her husband, Dan, of Little Elm, Texas, Tony Sims and his wife, Connie, of Marshall Junction and Melissia Hopkins and her husband, Barry, of Covington, La.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Wayne Wallace and his wife, Corine, of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Daniel Sims, and one daughter, Priscilla Michelle Sims.
