Colby Lee Miller, 85, of Stet, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at University of Columbia Medical Center in Columiba.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery near Stet. Thurman Funeral Home in Norborne is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Born Feb. 15, 1925, in Stet, he was the son of the late Gilbert Thomas and Lucy Pebble Miller. On July 28, 1947, in Stet, he married Faith Alberta Haas, who preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 2005. His family lived in Dewitt where he attended school until he was a junior in high school, then returned to Stet where he graduated from high school in 1943. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. After the war, he returned to Stet to take over the family farm. He was of the Christian faith. He lived in the Stet area most of his life.
Survivors included one son, Ricky Lee Miller of Stet; one daughter, Sharon Kay Chapnick and her husband, David, of Lake Worth, Fla.; one grandaughter, Rachel Chapnick of Lake Worth, Fla.; and one sister, Wilda Silvoso of Columbia.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by one brother, Delmer Miller.
